Implementation of APRV can be a little complicated due to its differences in application from other modes of ventilation we are used to.  Therefore, it is important to understand and redefine our thinking in order to understand its appropriate use clinically.  This lecture will clear up the confusion and help you be more effective and successful in implementing APRV in the clinical setting.

This course is intended to raise awareness to clinicians which use electronic medical records (EMRs) in their workplace for problems associated in documentation. The content teaches the participant on the basics of how EMRs collect data and transmits it back to the user. It will provide insight for the significance and need for verification and validation of information which the clinician inputs into the EMR

Presented by Kate Benscoter, Tyler's Story is a 50 minute presentation on the congenital heart defect Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). It uses the case study format to review fetal circulation, describe HLHS, and explain the three surgeries done for this heart defect. It follows the story of Tyler, born with HLHS, through his three surgeries, insertion of a ventricular assist device, and heart transplant. 

Tyler's story is told in four chapters. There is a 3-question post-test after the final chapter. 

Presented by Katie Sabato, this is an intermediate level course presentation on neonatal pediatric mechanical ventilation waveform analysis.  The author assumes the audience is versed in certain types of mechanical ventilation modes including volume, pressure control, pressure support ventilation and the volume pressure hybrid modes. The presentation engages the audience thru use of real life waveform graphics and the typical patient response associated with the waveform pattern. The presenter uses her own unique “style”  that educates through drawing the participant into associating graphics as a communication tool for infants on mechanical ventilators.  Clinical case are utilized to reinforce learning concepts.

Presented by David Jaccino, this lecture describes extracorporeal life support (ECLS), also known as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). It covers the types of ECLS, the selection criteria, and strategies for facilitating lung recovery. The importance of teamwork when caring for patients on ECLS is discussed. 

Presented by William "Bill" Miller, this lecture is Part I of a series on things all respiratory care practitioners must know about adult mechanical ventilation. Part 1, ARDS, primarily focuses on ventilating patients to avoid lung injury. There is a three question posttest at the end of the presentation.

This course covers some of the most common pediatric cardiac defects and their surgeries.  Each defect and surgery is covered based off information  important for any Respiratory Care Practiioner interested in such information and or is involved in the care and treatment of the pediatric cardiac patient.  Focus is on application of adequate and safe mechanical ventilation.   Nitric Oxide is introduced and discussed .  The viewer will also recieve information on understanding and controlling pulmonary and systemic vascular resistance.  Monitoring  of electrolyes and blood gasses are also covered.
